MAKO Medical Laboratories crossed a significant performance milestone as the medical testing company expands operations to increase COVID-19 testing capacity. Since April, the College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited laboratory has now processed more than 2 million COVID-19 tests and has the capacity to process up to 100,000 COVID-19 tests per day.
“With patients needing certainty and accuracy during these uncertain times, it is vital that our team upholds the highest standards while being ready to serve what could be a growing need for COVIDrelated testing,” said Josh Arant, COO, MAKO Medical.
MAKO operates two laboratories in North Carolina, one in Raleigh and a larger facility in Henderson. MAKO recently added vital equipment in Henderson to be able to increase the lab’s capacity from 50,000 COVID-19 tests per day to 100,000 tests per day if needed.
“Now that we are providing a wider variety of COVID-related test services, including a 3-in-1 test for both COVID-19 and the flu, it is imperative our team is ready for increased demand,” said Arant.
As one of the nation’s COVID-19 testing leaders during the pandemic, the MAKO team has processed tests from more than 20 states, serving businesses, physicians, public health departments, and hospitals. MAKO also serves as the official testing partner of the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Big South Conference, as well as provide testing support for the North Carolina Courage and North Carolina FC.
More than 800 team members strong, MAKO continues to provide rapid, reliable results in what one state leader called an “ultra-fast” way. 99% of MAKO’s COVID-19 test results are turned around in under two days once they arrive MAKO’s Henderson facility.
